The taste for beauty, the demand in the choice of raw materials and the refinement in details are some of the values shared by both brands in the performance of their artisan work; and that are reflected with elegance and subtlety in the design of this designer apron.

In this way, Duyos tells how he imagines the time the wine spends in the barrel, as an analogy of the patience and delicacy that his fabrics require during production until he obtains the desired quality in one of his designs.

HABLA wines as a source of inspiration

To design this apron, Juan Duyos has inspired by the unique personality of HABLA wines and the concept of festivity and celebration that surrounds wine culture; and so they are reflected on the apron, through “the stains left by wine bottles when you have finished a celebration, as a memory of the happiness experienced in a special or romantic moment”, as the Spanish designer explains.

With the philosophy of this ephemeral character, the numbered collection wines from Bodegas HABLA, the result of the characteristics of a terroir, under climatic conditions and a period of time that will not be repeated. In this way, every year new editions (single-varietal or blends) are published depending on the varieties that develop best. in its 200 hectares of organic vineyard. Varieties that are present on the apron, with a representation of the most unique and surprising ones: Sauvignon Blanc, the only white variety grown in the vineyard; Syrah, which has accompanied HABLA since its first editions and remains faithful in the succession of its numbered wines; and Malbec, a variety that is very unusual in Spain but that develops in an extraordinary way in the terroir of the Trujillano vineyard.

About DUYOS

Juan Duyos, born in Madrid, began working in 1992 with the designer Manuel Piña while, in parallel, he designed his first collections with Cecilia Paniagua, as DUYOS&PANIAGUA, garnering great interest in his work. He also collaborates with Antonio Pernas.

After several fashion shows for the firm at Pasarela Cibeles and participation in London Fashion Week in 1998, Juan signed his first collection as DUYOS in 1999, “Remember and save,” which was awarded as the best Cibeles collection. Throughout his career, he has been awarded several awards, such as Glamour, Lancia, Vanidad….

In 2002, he was appointed creative director of the legendary brand Don Algodón, whose work leading the creative team managed to revitalize and make the brand current. He carried out this work until 2005, combining it with his own DUYOS collection and his regular presence at Pasarela Cibeles, and collaborating with brands such as Levi's, Swatch, Absolut or Adidas, among others.

Also in 2006 he began his collaboration with the weekly supplement YODONA of the newspaper El Mundo, writing a monthly column, “Corte de mangas”.

Duyos continues to participate in various exhibitions, such as MMODANY at the Queen Sofía Spanish Institute in NY; the traveling exhibition 12 Suits for…, inaugurated in Tokyo and also exhibited in Beijing, Istanbul and Milan or Fashion is a Dream, presented in 2012 at the Cerralbo Museum in Madrid.

In September 2009, he presented his “Tiki” collection at NY Fashion Week, within the collective project 4EYES, through an artistic video installation, enjoying great media coverage both nationally and internationally.

From September 2011 to summer 2015, Juan Duyos served as Degree Director of the Fashion Design program at ESNE.

The collection presented at MBFWM called “Reserva” is awarded by L'Orèal as the best collection of the fall-winter 2013-14 season. The S/S 2015 collection called “7 islands” at MBFWM was very special: with choreography by the director of the National Ballet of Spain, Antonio Najarro, and with the BNE dancers wearing the designs.

The “Botanica” summer 2017 collection was also awarded in the September 2016 edition. The Smartgirls 20th anniversary collection, held in February 2017, was highly applauded as it featured 10 of the most prominent national top models in the history of fashion. and also awarded the L'Oreal Prize.

Likewise, it continues its expansion through new licenses such as home and fine jewelry, in addition to its atelier work and, especially, wedding dress design.

Since 2018, Juan Duyos has been a regular collaborator on “Las Mañanas de RNE” with his own space “Do you love me?” In the winter of 2018, she participated with two pieces in the Spanish Fashion exhibition in the Canal de Isabel II room “Modus”. He also works as a professor in the Vogue-Condé Nast College Spain Fashion Masters.

The “A floating garden” collection for summer 2022 marks the return to MBFWM after the break caused by the pandemic and was awarded the L'Oreal Award for the best collection of the season. Also in 2021, Duyos designs the uniform for the staff of the Spanish Pavilion at the 2020 Dubai Universal Expo and presents “The Collection” at the Cerralbo Museum, with a unique expo in a privileged environment.

In September 2022, to celebrate the brand's 25th anniversary, the “Estonia” collection featured the National Dance Company, choreographed by Mar Aguiló, as the protagonist of the parade.
